Client Success Story: Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center

Challenge

The Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center is a 25-bed, critical access hospital in southeastern Kansas with expertise in infection prevention, cardiac rehab, lab, imaging, emergency services, robotic surgery, maternity care, and more. In every area, Neosho Memorial has sought continuous quality improvement.

Cadence Clinical Services’ Solutions

The foundation of Neosho Memorial’s quality improvement program is:

  1. Always put patients first. Patients unify the Neosho Memorial healthcare team.
  2. Hire the right people.
  3. Take care of the staff. Pay them well and keep them motivated to do their best every day with every patient.
  4. Focus on the details.

Cadence’s Care Transformation team has collaborated with Neosho Memorial on its clinical improvement program, including helping them to approach their Lean program differently. At Neosho Memorial, there now is mandatory Lean training for all staff, and every department has a quantifiable Lean project to complete each year.

The Cadence Team also completed projects in the surgery and emergency departments to help Neosho Memorial become a high-functioning hospital.

Results

Since 2009, Neosho Memorial has earned more than 125 regional and national awards, including the 2021 National Health Quality Innovation Award – population health runner up for Community of Immunity initiative, multiple 5-star ratings for patient experience by CMS and Becker’s Hospital Review, Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work for 12 consecutive years, and Press Ganey 2021 Guardian of Excellence Awards in patient experience and employee engagement.

Client Quote

“I can’t imagine achieving the level of clinical quality and patient safety we’ve attained at Neosho Memorial without the Cadence Care Transformation team. As one who’s been the CEO for more than 15 years, I know it’s much easier to improve quality and safety with a trusted partner like Cadence.”
